Project SAFE: Services and Fundamental Enhancements for Justice-Involved Women

Building on expertise in implementing reforms for justice-involved women locally and advising jurisdictions nationally on this issue, the Center for Court Innovation (CCI), Black Women’s Blueprint (BWB), the National Black Women’s Justice Institute (NBWJI), and Reverend Cheryl Dudley of the American Baptist Churches of Metropolitan New York are creating Project SAFE: Services and Fundamental Enhancements for Justice-Involved Women. Project SAFE will provide targeted training and technical assistance to Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grantees working with justice-involved Black women who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The project will address the intersectionality of racism and racial bias, poverty, trauma, and specific gender-responsive needs of Black women women affected by the justice system.
